-Thurston County, WA. -July 04, 2023. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) released body camera video on Tuesday that shows the moments leading up to a deputy shooting a man in Lacey while responding to a domestic violence call in July. a 911 recording of the conversation between dispatchers and the man who called, saying he was going to kill someone. "911, what are you reporting?" the dispatcher asked. "Uh, domestic violence," the caller said. "OK, tell me what is going on," the dispatcher said. "No, you can just send police out here, or I will kill somebody," the caller replied. The video shows deputies arriving at a home on the 7500 block of 14th Avenue Northeast in Lacey just before 4 p.m. on July 4. One of the deputies can be heard in the video saying they’ve responded to the home “a bunch of times” for mental health calls. Deputies can be seen walking up to the home and speaking with some people outside. The video then shows the two deputies drawing their firearms as one of the deputies yells, "Drop it, drop it!" Three gunshots can then be heard. Deputies are then seen entering the home to provide aid to the injured resident. According to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office, who was leading the investigation, the man who was shot was treated at Providence St. Peter Hospital and then booked into jail on two counts of second-degree assault. On July 6, he was released from the Thurston County jail after it was determined he was not "an immediate risk to himself or others."
